Why Meyer Lemon Became our First Gummy

Why Hye Harvest Meyer Lemon Came First

Hye, Friends.

One of the questions I get asked most about our Clear & Creative gummy is “Why Meyer Lemon?”

Followed quickly by "What is a Meyer Lemon?"

Fair questions. You want to find out why?

What Makes a Meyer Lemon Different?

A Meyer lemon is softer and a bit sweeter than the lemon most people know. It has less bite, a thin skin and a light floral note. You still get the bright citrus and tart lemon taste, with enough sweet to round it out.

That’s what made it interesting to us.

When we started work on our full-spectrum, THC gummies, taste mattered from the start. So did smell and how the fruit worked with the terpene profile we were building.

Hye Harvest needed the first THC gummy to have memorable flavor you might know, with enough of a twist to make you stop and take note. Meyer Lemon gave us that balance.

It can be sweet, sour, bright and soft at the same time. It works with the profile rather than covering it up. People know lemon, but Meyer Lemon gives them something new. When we shared the first rounds with friends and family, they noticed right away.

That little bit of familiarity mixed with something unexpected stuck with them.

But there was another reason I kept coming back to it.

Meyer Lemon Started for Me in Corpus Christi

Meyer Lemon was part of my life long before Hye Harvest.

When I was around ten years old, my father planted a Meyer Lemon tree in our Corpus Christi, TX home's backyard. My brother and I grew up with that tree, and over time it became enormous, probably 18 feet tall, and produced more fruit than our family could ever use.

Meyer Lemons simply became part of our home.

My mother used it in all kinds of food, from day-to-day meals to ceviche made with fresh Gulf seafood we bought right off the shrimp boats. The tree produced, we used what it gave us and that flavor became part of how I understood South Texas without ever really stopping to think about it.

The original tree eventually became sick and passed, but its pups remain in Corpus Christi today. The lineage continues.

From Corpus Christi to Hye, Texas

Years later, I found myself starting a hemp farm in Hye, Texas, entering a new industry and developing the first products that would introduce Hye Harvest to the world.

Meyer Lemon gave me something I didn’t realize I needed.

Home.

I knew the smell and the taste. How soft it could be and how much bite it could still have. It was a flavor I understood.

That mattered to me.

If Hye Harvest was going to introduce something new, I wanted our first step forward to feel unmistakably ours. Not another generic flavor attached to another product in an already noisy category.

Meyer Lemon gave us a way to cut through that noise without shouting.

Finding a Home in Clear & Creative

Meyer Lemon gummies found its place in Clear & Creative.

We designed Clear & Creative for those moments when you’re looking for focus and flow while still getting on with your day.

We get feedback from athletes, past athletes, founders, artists, people in business and folks with a long list in front of them. I love hearing how people use it. But I’ve been equally proud of how often the conversation comes back to the flavor itself.

People remember Meyer Lemon.

We’ve heard from customers across the country who tell us how much they love it, how naturally everything works together and, in some cases, that it’s one of the best gummy flavors they’ve ever had.

If Meyer Lemon is already part of your Hye Moment, now you know where that flavor came from.

Why Meyer Lemon Stays With Hye Harvest

For me, that’s where this story comes full circle.

Meyer Lemon may have been the first Hye Harvest flavor we introduced you too, but it wasn’t new to me. Turns out, it's part of my life.

It came from my father planting a tree, my mother finding ways to use what the tree gave us, growing up alongside my brother in Corpus Christi and, years later. . .understanding how special that fruit really was.

Starting Hye Harvest meant stepping into a lot of new ground. Meyer Lemon gave me something familiar to lean on and confidence that at least this part of the story was right.

It was unique enough to make an impact, familiar enough to trust and personal enough to mean something.

That’s why Meyer Lemon.

And that’s why it will always have a place at Hye Harvest. So the next time you open a jar, there’s a little bit of Corpus Christi in the story.

All good things ahead.
